Growing MOM-enomics, the money and motherhood show people need

Booth Parker created the frist season of her show MOM-enomics with her trademark drive, handling all the technical and workflow aspects herself instead of using a podcast production service.

As a Certified Public Account and a parent who is on a mission to share her knoweldge from this intersection of experiences, she needed a platform. Her need to help many women manage the finances and other aspects of their had already lead her to serve thousands with her content.

This podcast has business purposes too. It attached to her business ventures as a freelance CPA and a lifestyle influencer on Instagram, with hopes to drive new people into her email list and to her digital products.

Since there are so many folks who don’t know what they’re talking about with regards to financial advice, and even fewer who know how to integrate that knowledge with parenthood, launching her podcast MOM-enomics was a calling.

When she signed up for our podcast production service

Booth’s biggest obstacle was the lack of knowledge about how to get the most out of her podcast after creating her first season herself. She recognized a few difficulties, and reached out to a friend with a podcast to ask who they used to manage their show. That friend was a client of ours, and they recommended her to us.

After taking stock of the show and her goals, we proposed that MOM-enomics – which was currently an audio-only show – add video to take advantage of being on YouTube.

While YouTube has its challenges for podcasts, we manage the entire workflow with processes informed by success, and iteration as platforms shift. The basics stay the same: tell the story, make great content, respect the audience.

Once she recorded her content, we handled everything: editing and packaging the episode, finding, editing, and publishing clips, so that she didn’t have to lift a finger while her show found more and more fans.

The Video Podcast Strategy

We added video episodes to MOM-enomics, training Booth on her new gear and providing checklists she could use for recording sessions. Once we launched season two, we were pulling six human-selected and human-edited clips from each one to post as YouTube Shorts.

The key behind our YouTube shorts editing strategy is born from many best practice in short-form video, all used in ways that do not threaten the authenticity of our subject. This strategy creates volume with six clips posted per week and gives us lots of data to work with, while keeping the quality of the content high, drawing in new audience members to her YouTube channel.

Results Of Using Our Podcast Production Service

“Zach at Rooster High has been fantastic to work with. He has enabled me to continue to grow my brand and my presence through my podcast. Now that I don’t spend time editing, I have more hours each week to focus on my core work.”

We’ll show the numbers shortly, not just the ones we put in the title to get you interested in how great the results for this project were. But the core of it is reflected in Booth’s testimonial above:

Once Booth hired us, she spent far less effort for far greater results.

These results are from Seasons Two and Three of the podcast, before which Rooster High was not working on the show. Booth had a YouTube channel already created where several lifestyle videos had been posted.

Podcast and social media metrics were reported on, noting trends, what did well, and analysis whether numbers were up or down. If numbers were down, we’d look at a wide variety of factors, and make updates internally if needed, or recommed changes for Booth herself on a strategic level. It’s a part of our committment to being a strategic partner on any project we do.
